Morris Finance 2 day regatta at Royal Geelong Yacht Club Saturday 16th Sunday 17th September 2017

With only 4 boats involved it still made for great OD close racing.

It is the pre season hit out, time to blow the winter cobwebs away. Huey didn’t disappoint us. First day we had everything, 10 – 30 knots, sun, rain, wind squalls and fantastic close racing. We started racing in a good 17 -20 knts, flat water perfect racing. Second race, wind increased, left a bit of carnage and intense sailing. The third race saw a rain squall come through with 30knts 90 deg wind shift kites up and boats going in all directions. 4th race returned to perfect conditions. Chainsaw taking out boat of the day.

The traditional 38 dinner was at the RGYC, snowfoto.com provided a slide show of photos taken during the day, and played throughout the meal. A lot of laughs, great food and friendly banter throughout the night.

Day 2 saw a light 10 to 12 knt northly breeze, 3 races, blue sky, flat water, Corio bay turned it on. This is what makes Geelong such a beautiful place to sail.

The RGYC put on a BBQ, prior to presentation just to finish off the weekend.

Huge thank you to Morris Finance for sponsoring this regatta, The RGYC for hosting, PRO Max Stein and all the volunteers and of course the 38 owners for making the effort, turning up and making it such a fabulous weekend. Comradery between the teams is unique.

Congratulations to Serra Chainsaw on the win.

Looking forward to seeing as many boats in Geelong for the 38 Nationals during 175th passage race Festival of Sails in January 2018.
